The Banjo Minnow is not reeled in the way you are accustomed to, it is an unconventional lure, you must retrieve it using short, quick jerks; after each short quick jerk your rod tip should snap back towards the lure creating slack in your line, relaxing the lure in the water, allowing it to move in different directions depending on current and creating a random directional action that simulates a live minnow. There should be a pause between each jerk so that there is time for the lifelike motion to occur, this is when the strike will come and the same slack that creates the life like directional motion also allow the predator fish to inhale the bait – it is important to allow the lure to be sucked backwards into the fish’s mouth in order to set the hook.
